The HD binocular mount is always undergoing development. This is a heavy duty mount , capable of handling binoculars in the 20x80 to 25x100 range. Good for binoculars made by Meade, Celestron, Oberwerk, Garrett Optical and many other brands of binocular. Construction

The binocular mount is made primarily of Ash, with some Baltic Birch and steel components. The wood in the parallelogram and the short uprights, are thicker and shorter than lighter duty mounts. The helps to keep settling times to a minimum.

The binocular " L Bracket " of the mount (see picture at right), is constructed of Baltic Birch for extra strength, a layer of laminate is added on both sides for durability and to provide a bearing surface. The T handle provides good control for both the 3rd and 4th degrees of motion. The mounting post is raised 3/4 " to allow for some binocular brands, to have sufficient  clearance for the center mounting post . Teflon washers are used throughout the mount for smoothness of motion.

About Wood: Wood is a superior material for quick dampening , you will find that this mount, combined with a solid tripod, will have fast settling times.

Astrowood was begun with the objective of manufacturing practical, well built accessories.  The products I sell are the same products that I use. The product line is primarily made from wood. Why? Wood is strong, beautiful and adds an organic aspect to your equipment inventory.  I have been an active woodworker for over 30 years and avid amateur astronomer for not quite as long.
