Azimuth Bearing : $135 Sold out This bearing is ideal for anyone building there own parallelogram binocular mount. It is designed to attach to a standard surveyor tripod, by way of a 5/8 - 11 thread. Attaching your main vertical upright, to the azimuth bearing is by means of 4 carriage bolts. The optimal dimensions of the upright is 1 3/4" X 1 3/4", but other sizes can be made to work. Please inquire.
L Bracket : $80 Sold out This bracket has 2 degrees of motion. This introduces greater flexibility to your P-mount. Typical homemade P-mounts have 3 degrees of motion, causing the observer to stand behind the mount and continually move around the tripod as you are viewing from a standing position. This L Bracket will allow you to sit and view from a chair, or stand in one location as you pan around a portion of the sky. Attaches easily to the top of the forward post of your parallelogram.
C Bracket : $17 Fabricated from mild steel, this piece is cut to size, drilled for 5/16" fasteners, surface prepared by sand blasting, ready for paint. The inside dimension of the "C" is 1 3/4". This is a solid piece that will allow you to add that 4th degree of motion, giving your mount added versatility. Add $5 if you want them powder coated.
Corner Brace : $17 These are Stanley 3" corner brackets, that can be purchased at most Hardware Stores. However Store bought brackets have the counter sinks for the screws on the opposite side than required, and have a galvanized finish. These ones have the counter sinks on the correct side, the surface has been sand blasted, ready for paint. Add $5 if you would like them powder coated.
Tightening Knobs : $18 Tightening knobs can be hard to find in small quantities. These can be cost effective to include with your order. From right to left - 1/4 20, 4 lobe knob for the captive bolt for the L bracket - 5/16 18, 6 lobe knob for the parallelogram - 5/16 18, 3 lobe knob, the main control of the parallelogram
Teflon Washer Kit : $20 11 Teflon washers for the parallelogram. These washers will cause the motions of the P-mount to be silky smooth. All washers are 1/8" thick, the 3 larger ones are for the C bracket, and the 8 smaller for the parallelogram. If you are interested in other sizes - contact me.
5/16 X 4 1/2" Carriage Bolts - smooth shaft : $8 Smooth shaft carriage bolts can be hard to find. This bolts are zinc plated, and are only threaded on the last inch. While, I do not believe that a fully threaded bolt makes a big difference in the smooth operation of the mount, these bolts are a nice touch.
